Age spots - also referred to as liver spots, sunspots, or, technically, lentigines - are irregularly shaped areas of brown discoloration. Age spots most commonly appear in those 40 and older, and are the result of long-term sun damage.
Like many other cosmetic skin problems, age spots can be effectively treated using laser surgery or therapy. Laser treatment for age spots involves aiming a beam of concentrated laser light at the area, targeting the discoloration, which will fade over a short time following the laser treatment.
