Breast Augmentation Questions

Serving Beverly Hills, Los Angeles,
Newport Beach, & Orange County, California

Will breast augmentation interfere with any of my athletic abilities?
Breast implants are designed to mimic not just the appearance, but the physical properties of natural breasts, so you should be no more hindered in athletic pursuits than you would be with natural breasts of the same size.

Will I still be able to breast feed?
The ability to breast feed cannot be guaranteed following breast augmentation. However, different types of incision and implant placement may carry less risk than other types. If you hope to breastfeed at some point in the future, be sure to inform your doctor during your initial consultation so that he or she can explain the augmentation procedures and help you decide what is right for you.

Will the implants interfere with mammograms?
In some cases, breast implants can make it more difficult for technicians to read mammogram results. However, because breast augmentation is so popular, technicians have developed specialized techniques that can minimize these difficulties and allow for effective screening.

What size and shape implant is right for me?
The answer to this question depends almost entirely on your personal preferences and physique. Before committing to a specific type of breast implant, it is important to understand the options available to you, and to discuss them with your cosmetic surgeon.

How long does recovery take?
Most breast augmentation patients are able to be up and about doing light activities within a day or two following breast enlargement, and can return to work, as long as their jobs aren't physically demanding, within a few days after the surgery. Depending on your personal healing abilities, the type of breast augmentation procedure you've had, and your surgeon's advice, you will probably be able to return to most normal activities within about three to five weeks, and should be fully healed within several months.

If you have any other questions about breast augmentation or enlargement, or if you'd like to schedule an appointment to discuss what options are right for you, call or email our cosmetic surgeon to schedule a consultation today.
