Will I have scarring after a facelift?
Scarring from a facelift is usually minimal. The incisions are made behind the hairline and following the natural contours of the face, so any scarring is obscured. Factors affecting the appearance of your scars include your natural healing abilities, your overall health, habits such as smoking, and how carefully you follow after-care procedures.
How long does a facelift last?
A facelift reverses existing signs of aging, but it does not halt the aging process. As such, your facelift will permanently affect your appearance, making you appear younger than you would have had you not had the procedure. You will, however, continue to age naturally at your normal rate.
Is a facelift right for me?
A facelift can be an excellent solution for those who are experiencing several common signs of aging, including loose, sagging skin around the cheeks and jaw, deep wrinkles extending from the nose to the corners of the mouth, lack of definition of the jaw, and a general loss of elasticity in the face. A facelift is not an effective solution for fine wrinkling, but many patients opt for additional skin refining procedures in addition to the facelift to optimize their results. Most facelift patients are 35 - 60, although the procedure can be performed at any age.
What can I expect from a facelift?
The facelift procedure results in a tighter, more elastic and youthful appearing face, and generally takes about ten years off a patient's appearance. Depending on the specific problems your procedure was designed to address, your cheeks may appear higher, your neck and jaw line more taut and youthful, and deep furrows and wrinkles will be minimized or eliminated.
How long will it take to heal following the procedure?
Recovery times will vary from one patient to the next, and will come in stages, but as a general rule, most patients should take about a week to rest and recover following the procedure, and will be back to their normal activities within a few weeks.
