Is liposuction effective as a general weight loss technique?
No. While the liposuction procedure does result in some weight loss, it is not an effective technique for overall weight loss, as fat that is removed through liposuction can be quickly regenerated if the patient does not adopt a healthy and sensible diet and exercise routine. Liposuction is a body sculpting procedure, designed to target areas of fat that have been resistant to diet and exercise.
How long do the results of liposuction last?
Liposuction results in permanent removal of targeted fat cells. However, other fat cells in the same area can expand over time with weight gain. As long as you continue to adhere to a sensible diet and exercise routine, however, a liposuction procedure can permanently improve your body proportions.
How long is the recovery period?
The recovery time following liposuction varies from one patient to the next, and also depends on the type and extent of your procedure. However, most patients are able to return to most of their normal, non-strenuous activities within two to three days following the procedure.
Will I have scarring?
Because liposuction procedures require only a small incision at the site where the cannula is inserted, most patients heal completely, with no scarring.

What is Tumescent Liposuction?
The word "Tumescent" means swollen. Tumescent liposuction involves injecting fluid into the area to be suctioned, which increases the space between muscle and fat, allowing easier access for the liposuction procedure.
What is Ultrasonic Liposuction?
Ultrasonic liposuction, clinically referred to as "Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction" or UAL, is actually a type of tumescent liposuction in which a cannula (surgical tube) is used to transmit ultrasound vibrations within the body. These vibrations burst the walls of the fat cells, which liquefy the fat and make it easier to suction out. Ultrasonic liposuction may be suggested by the plastic surgeon in some cases, but not all.
